Only four days, and I still haven't the slightest what I'm going to do for her. It needs to be something splendid ... and something unexpected.
I haven't the first idea what. I already give her everything she desires, and so it needs to be something above and beyond that, and I'm afraid I don't ...
Perhaps I should ask Caroline for advice when she's facing a less distressing situation, though considering her tendancy towards histrionics, that's not likely to be soon.

Tessa, dearest, it seems as if the weather refuses to clear up. I suppose we should reschedule our Tuesday walk. I'll ask Mother when there's enough of a break in the Routine to allow it.
