Thomas' life has been a steady stream of routine and hatred.

As the firstborn son of House Nallen, Thomas was raised in his father's shadow, taught to be a good lord. Horace kept his son near to his side, believing that the best way to teach was through example, and by observation, Thomas learned the ways of politics and rule. Horace took this part of his son's schooling very seriously. He also taught him about the feud, about all the "accidents" that had happened over the centuries, every slight in memory that House Rowan had performed, all were drilled into him, and through that, Thomas grew to hate them.

From his mother, Thomas learned The Routine. What happened when, what went where, how everything worked and ran and thrived. He never understand his sister Caroline's distaste of The Routine; with Mother's help, everything ran smoothly and according to plan. It kept Emmeline in as good of health as could be hoped, raised Patrick and Laurel with discipline and direction. So long as he was home and The Routine reigned, Thomas knew exactly who he was, and that was fine for him.

He put the lessons his parents taught him to practice with the responsabilities they gave him. His studies, keeping some of the books, and running patrols along the borders. His border patrols found him frequently coming into contact with Byron of House Rowan, Lord Morgan's son and heir. As if by instinct, the two took an instant dislike to one another, and the greater part of Thomas' later teenage years were spent squabbling at the border with his patrols as tensions continued to rise between the two feuding Houses.

It was when Thomas was nineteen that these conflicts came to a head. A group of bandits were found on the Rowan-Nallen border, and Byron's patrol came across them at the same time as Thomas'. What started as a mutual attempt to eradicate the bandits escalated into much worse. Ultimately, Thomas and Byron crossed swords, ending in Thomas killing Byron, and the rest of the Rowan patrol being destroyed.

As soon as Thomas' blood lust calmed, he realized what a situation he'd put himself in. The rest of the patrol were sworn to secrecy on pain of death, and Thomas left both the bandit and Rowan patrols dead, hoping that the death would fall upon the bandits. Since that day, no one has learned the truth.

Thomas has attempted to put the incident into his path. After Byron's death, tensions smoothed somewhat, Kiefer, the new heir to Rowan, had no interest in the feud. Thomas put his work into his other responsabilities, which were growing by the moment, and into courting the beautiful Lady Therese of Temair, unbeknowest to any of her reservations about the match. Tensions between he and Glenn of Rowan have been mounting, recently, but Thomas has tried to convince himself that the incident six years ago taught him to cool his temper.

It's almost worked.



PERSONALITY ;;

Thomas is polite, studious, and reserved. He values responsability and etiquette most of all, propriety and routine after that. He cares very much for his family, holding his father and mother in very high regard, always making an effort to spend time with his older sisters, and being very fond of the younger children. He's also very devoted to Therese, though he really doesn't understand her at all, despite believing he does.

He's slightly arrogant in a subtle way; while he never flaunts his feelings, he's very proud of his strengths and accomplishments, more so than normal. His temper has a very long, slow-burning fuse, but when it finally burns down, his anger is somewhat frightening to behold.

Thomas thrives on consistancy, schedule, and certainty, the result of his mother's Routine. While business now keeps him away from Nallen regularly, he's never quite comfortable until he's back under its familiar designated world, where everything is clearly defined. It all reminds him of exactly who he is.

While Thomas is a very likeable and friendly man, he's extremely reserved. He smiles very often, and is in fact rarely seen doing anything but, however, he doesn't truly share any of himself, not with his sisters, his parents, Therese, no one. There's not a single person alive who Thomas considers a true confidant. He refuses to see himself as lonely, but sometimes does feel somewhat sorry for himself.

Regardless, the net of propriety and reserve he's sometimes suffocated by was woven in large part by himself, so his frustration over it tends to be short-lived. Ultimately, Thomas enjoys his lifestyle exactly the way it is.

He's also an obsessive neat freak and compulsive organizer.



APPEARANCE ;;

Thomas has a very combed down, cultured, carefully tended appearance. He is very tall and slender, with carefully cut black hair, dark eyes, and mid-toned, clear skin. Everything he does has a cetain masculine grace, accentuated by his long fingers and, of course, his subdued nature. He is near-sighted, and wears a pair of spectables to help compensate for this weakness. He's extremely good-looking, enough that it's often remarked upon.
